Feedback is really important, both positive and negative. Back in 2006, a group of people I knew from barbecue forums received ThirdHands for evaluation. I refered to them as my field testers, because I asked them to use the tool, then critique my design and offer any suggestions they might have. Then in 2007, I posted some photographs and a "please give me your comments" post on several barbecue forums that I hang out on. I was afraid I had overlooked something in the design that would make this tool even easier to use. All the comments were really positive, I appreciated every ones comments!! To all you initial field testers, about 25 in all, thanks again for confirming that my idea was workable.
As new ideas move from my sketchbook to the work bench, the first ones are sent out to field testers that I randomly select. Some are included with tool orders, other times I will send an e-mail to someone and say something like "hey, I want to send you something to check out".
